You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. Meet your head guide for a comprehensive safety briefing and equipment check. Missing mountain gear can be rented today.

Machame Gate
Day 1: Moshi to Machame Gate – Hike to Machame Camp
Distance: 11 km / 7 mi | Trekking Time: 5–7 hours | Elevation: Machame Gate (1,800 m) β†’ Machame Camp (2,835 m / 9,301 ft)
Drive from Moshi to Machame Gate for park clearance and registration. Begin your trek through the lush, emerald montane forest filled with mossy trees and tropical flora. Arrive at Machame Camp by late afternoon.

Altitude Acclimatization Tip:
● Abstain from alcohol and excess caffeine.
● Drink at least 4 liters of water daily in small, frequent sips.
● Take Diamox as recommended by your physician.
● Report any altitude symptoms immediately to your mountain guide.
Shira Plateau
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
Distance: 5 km / 3 mi | Trekking Time: 4–6 hours | Elevation: Machame Camp (2,835 m) β†’ Shira Camp (3,850 m / 12,631 ft)
Leave the rainforest canopy behind and hike up along a steep, rocky ridge into the giant heather and moorland zones. Cross over the western edge of the Shira Plateau to reach Shira Cave Camp with sweeping views of Kibo Peak.

Lava Tower
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Trek east across high desert landscapes to the massive Lava Tower (4,630 m) for lunch and critical altitude adaptation. Afterwards, descend into the lush Great Barranco Valley ("climb high, sleep low") to sleep at Barranco Camp.

Barranco Wall to Barafu Camp
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Base Camp via Karanga Valley

Conquer the famous Great Barranco Wall in the morning. After reaching the top, traverse through Karanga Valley for lunch, then continue upwards over rugged alpine desert terrain to Barafu Base Camp. Rest early to prepare for tonight's summit attempt.

Summit Uhuru Peak
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak β†’ Descend to Mweka Camp
Distance: 17 km / 10.5 mi | Trekking Time: 11–14 hours | High Point: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) β†’ Camp: Mweka Camp (3,100 m / 10,170 ft)
Wake around midnight to begin your push up steep scree to Stella Point (5,756 m) on Kibo's crater rim for sunrise. Continue another hour along the snow-capped rim to Uhuru Peakβ€”the top of Africa! After celebrating, descend back to Barafu for a quick break and continue down to Mweka Camp.

Mweka Gate
Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate β†’ Return to Moshi

Enjoy a beautiful final hike down through the dense cloud forest to Mweka Gate. Receive your official summit certificates, celebrate with your mountain crew, and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved warm shower.

Onward Travel
Day 7: Onward Travel / Departure
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home, or continue your adventure with a Tanzanian Wildlife Safari or a beach holiday in Zanzibar.
